Birthday Wishes

I finally made a card with my SU whale. I couldn't get past the size of it. In all the cards that I saw, the whale looked larger like what I used awhile back. This whale is cute, but small - REALLY small. I had the day off yesterday and when I was sitting out in the sun, the idea hit me that I should make a sunburst card with the whale and use the water cut from my cricut. Ta da...this is the card that was born. I figured out a great way to make the sunburst. Cut each side and work into the middle. I started with 1 1/8 strips, moved to 1 1/4 and then 1 1/2 for the top three strips. I stitched the sunburst and popped the entire card front on pop dots.

Supplies: Bazzill, SU clearlet whale die, DCWV, Recollections, Sonborn, SU basic grey, googlie eye 4mm, Cricut, Cricut Sampler cartridge, SU clear ebmossing powder, SU wow flowers stamp.

Happy Father's Day - Dad

I made this card for my dad for Father's Day. I used the Got Sketch #153 sketch. I originally was going to add patterned paper on the bottom half so the words didn't show through but Dad was too long. I added the mustashe after, and am glad I did, although my dad doesn't have a mustashe (thank goodness for that). I cut around it after I embossed it. I used the digital image from Birds Cards. The top of the angled line was made in green scallop but it doesn't show with the pennants.

Supplies: Recollections, Bazzill, Got Sketch #153 sketch, Birds cards digi, brads, mustashe stamp from Studio G, We R Memory Keepers baker's twine, SU clear embossing powder.

Thoughts of You

I made this card back in January for my Grandma and Great Aunt. I finally decided on which sentiment to use and added the punched flowers. I used a card on Pinterest for my inspiration. I will add the link later.

Supplies: SU vanilla, Bazzill tan confetti, DCWV, Recollections, SU chocolate chip ink, SU clear embossing powder, SU flower punch, flower punch, Recollections bling.

Home is where the heart lives - for Leonel

This card will be given to the new Homeowner at Habitat for Humanity. We have his dedication on Saturday, June 1. He has been a really great partner and has worked very hard on his home. I made the card for all of us to sign for him. His real home does not have brown windows and doors, but it showed up better that way. I tried to cut a house out with my Cricut, but it didn't work well and I didn't like the house I cut out. I made it too big and I cut too close to the edge of the paper. I did not poke the holes out of the scalloped square on purpose.

Supplies:  Bazzill, Recollections, SU Kraft, SU bashful blue, Cuttlebug, Cricut, Elegant Edges cartridge (both shapes), SU chocolate chip ink, heart punch, woodgrain embossing folder from The Paper Studio.

Just to brighten your day - for Kim

I made this card for my friend Kim. She is going through a lot right now. I wanted to let her know I'm here for her no matter what. I used the Deconstructed #77 sketch for the sketch. I really like that sketch. I will probably use it again. It really works well with square sentiments. I used the DCWV Citrus stack. I really like that stack. It's bright and colorful and the patterns really blend well together. I submitted this card for a Paper Ala Mode Challenge (PAM05252013) on Outlawz Challenge site.

Supplies: DCWV Citrus paper pack, black embossing ink, SU clear embossing powder, circle punch, Nestabilies, Cuttlebug, SU scallop border punch, We R Memory Keepers baker's thread, Deconstructed #77 sketch.

TT052313 and SC052213 - Sparkle and shine

This card was made for two challenges on the Outlawz Challenges site. We were to make a card for fantasy for the Twisted Thursday challenge (TT052313). I also followed the sketch challenge for the week (SC052213). I spent tons of time looking for ONE sheet of paper to use on this card. After I was totally frustrated, I changed my game plan and went this direction. I went through all my single sheets of paper. I know for sure I bought one single sheet of white paper with pink crowns on it. Well, lord only knows where that one single sheet is. I made the princess so she was sprinkling fairy dust on the flowers. I recreated the flowers since the pixie pink craft pad I was using was just about dry. The green galore stems worked, so I still used them.

Supplies: SU Pixie Pink paper, Rob and Bob stack, Bazzill, Studio G cling stamps, Craftsmart stamp, circle punches, stickles, SU clear embossing powder, Copic markers, SU green galore craft ink.

Happy Birthday Lynn

I made this card for one of the girls in the craft group. I realized I forgot one of the girls who celebrated a birthday in December. Wow. I feel really bad. I used a card layout off Pinterest for my design. This did not quite turn out the way I had invisioned. I tried to use my Stazon ink on the transparency and that did not work. It was dry as can be. I stamped the sentiment with embossing ink and used clear embossing powder on it. Normally, that would not stick, but luckily for me, it did. I will put this in the mail tonight. I showed this picture to my friend Ceylan and she wants me to give her this card for her birthday or make her one just like it. She will get one, similar maybe or possibly the same, however I don't normally replicate the cards with the same papers, etc.

This card was used in the Outlawz greeting Card Challenge. GCC0520.

Supplies: Bazzill, Recollections, Sonborn, Cricut, Elegant Edges cartridge, Everyday Pop-up cards cartridge, Bling, Black bling, black flocking on butterfly body, transparency, SU clear embossing powder.

Enjoy today

I saw a similar card on Pinterest that I used as my idea. My square is a little bigger than that one and I used a sheet of white to attach the black and white polka dot paper to. I did adhere the black and white paper with pop dots so it would stand out. I love the lime green with the black and white combo. It's a pretty simple card overall.

Supplies: The Paper Studio, Bazzill, Recollections, ribbon, Studio G, Circle punches, Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, SU clear embossing powder, The Paper Studio dot embossing folder.

Hello cards

I made two cards when I was at my neighbors for craft day. It's nice to be crafting again. It's really good for the soul. I got there later so I didn't get to make as many cards as everyone else, which is not a big surprise anyway. I made these relatively simple cards. I like them now. I did not like the negative image card at all because I put it on a purple background. It just didn't work for me. I woke up thinking about it so changed it to a white background and viola...I like it a lot now. The negative image card is done with 1/8 inch strips behind the cut out. I used a card for the layout off Pinterest. The top card, I tried to add black and white polka dot ribbon to at the break but it didn't look right. The Hello images and flower are adhered with pop dots.

Supplies: The Paper Studio, Sonborn, Recollections, Making Memories, DCWV, Bazzill, Sizzix Hello die, Big Shot, Prima flower, bling, Cuttlebug embossing folder, circle punches.

Happy Birthday Helen

I made this for one of the house leaders at Habitat for Humanity. Her birthday is over Memorial Day weekend this year and we do not work that day so I will give it to her early. She really loves to see the cards I make so I'm sure she will enjoy receiving one. I used a card as a sample from Pinterest that was actually published in Paper Crafts magazine. I popped the front pieces to give it more dimension. I will be making cupcakes or some sort of cake for tomorrow as well. I just have to decide The what to make. The words seem to still be crooked in the arrow. I have redone it several times and this is the best I can get. I guess everything can't be perfect and it is a hand made card afterall but still...I dislike giving things that look imperfect.

Update: I decided on devils food cupcakes with white frosting. I ran out of white so used chocolate for two cupcakes and put a dot on the cupcakes where I added a chocolate kiss in after 5 min of baking. Boy those were good. Helen really was appreciatiave of the card and the cupcakes. She told her husband John (also a house lead), "look, Shannon made me one of her special cards". That made me feel good. And...she didn't even notice that the stamped images were crooked. Yay for me (because I notice). I had to let it go though.

Supplies: Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Recollections, Making Memories, Cricut, Essentials cartridge, Inkadinkadoo stamp, Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, SU words, SU clear embossing powder, Sharpie, bling.

Only a biker knows...

I Made this card (and five others just like it) for my dad and his motorcycle buddies. I used the Mojo Monday #293 sketch. I was very literal on the sketch with the exception of adding 7 pennants on the right side. I think this card is just the cutest and they will all get a kick out of it. I only have a few copic markers so went with what I have that can match and blend...who knew these colors would be so happy and great together? I'm sure you can expect some more cards with this color scheme now. I also didn't want to make the scooter (none of them ride scooters really) or the dog like anyones. I found the saying on Birds Cards so went looking for coloring book pages of dogs on motorcycles and this is the closest I could find. I added googlie eyes in the goggles. I added bling even on the cards for the guys. I can't wait to send these off and hear the comments.

Supplies: Recollections, Bazzill, Birds cards sentiments, Mojo Monday sketch, SU punch, Cricut, Elegant edges cartridge, Copic markers, Ribbons, Bling, Sharpies (to color bling), SU chevron embossing folder and Cuttlebug.

Happy Mother's Day

I finally got in my craft room to create again. Here are three Mother's Day cards I made. They are all pretty similar. The first one is for my mom, second is for my grandma, and the third is for my great aunt. This is the first card for the year for them. : (

My mom sent me the Cricut Giant Flowers cartridge and I used it for her card. Because they are intended to be large, they are a little harder to work with when made for a smaller canvas such as a card. I will be trying more and of course will be making them smaller like this one is. The center of the flower was cut a little larger just so I could get the cut edge wrapped around. It was way too small to work with before when cut the same size. This is a cartridge that if you do not use the real dial size, it will make the layers and items proportional and will make your flower layers different sizes. I hope mom likes it and that she enjoys seeing me use my Cricut. The colors make me happy and scream my name. I think the cards with the yellow in the background stand out better. I sewed the blocks with the sewing machine. I printed the sentiment from the computer since I do not have any Mother's Day word stamps. I added the bling after to jazz the cards up a little more.

Supplies: SU mellon mambo, SU daffodil, The Paper Studio, DCWV, MME, Recollections. Cricut, Giant Flowers cartridge, Prima bling, Silk flowers, flower punch, Ribbon, Brads, Font.

Congratulations Tara and Ali

My dad needed two graduation cards while he was here so I made these for him. I used a card from Pinterest as my sample (I will add the link later). The cards were going to be the same but when I cut the second digital sentiment out, I didn't center it right on the Cricut center point setting. That's a pretty nifty setting if you get the items lined up appropriately. I acutally like the alternative a little better. It's more bold and eye catching in my opinion. I used the digi sentiment from Birds Cards. The cards are both pretty clean and simple but I kind of like them. I always like the look, but it's hard for me to not keep adding.
