GCC1229 - Anything Goes/Happy New Year

It's the last Monday of the month so there is an Anything Goes challenge over at the Outlawz. This week however, there is a twist. Make your anything goes card into a Happy New Years card.

Is anyone else wondering where in the world 2014 has gone? I sure am. I was so busy during the months of August, September, and October at work that I think it should only be October now. Guess I won't get that time back. Hopefully, 2015 will be prosperous for all.

The Sponsor this week is Aurora Wings and the image is Butterfly Mask. I originally wanted this image instead (Butterfly Mask with Ribbons). I only colored the eyes in. I did add Stickles in gold and silver to give it more shine. I also lightly went over the butterfly wings with Spica at-you glitter pen.

I used this card from Jen Shultz as my sketch to follow.

I used foil cardstock and really like it, although, it is very tricky to photograph. It is reflective so you can see your outline and also could see my phone. I finally put on a white top and had the phone hidden in the middle where the image is so you couldn't see my reflection. I stamped and colored the champagne and ice bucket. I used my new Cricut cartridge called Photo Booth Props. This cartridge is going to be so fun to use for photo booths. I can't wait to start making them.

Challenges Submitted to:

Supplies:
Papers: Neenah, Hammermill digital cardstock, American Crafts, DCWV, The Paper Studio (silver on clock face), Gold and Silver foil cardstock (Dollar Tree).
Stamps: Aurora Wings - Butterfly Mask, Studio G (bottle & bucket/happy new year).
Accessories: Cricut, Photo Booth Props cartridge, homemade enamel dot, pop dots.
Inks: Copics, Memories, Spica at-you glitter pen, Silver Sharpie (to color enamel dot).

GCC1222 - Believe in Birthday Miracles Cara

It's Monday and that means there is a new challenge over at the Outlawz.

This week,  the sponsor is: Digital Delights and the image is Angel Donita. I knew as soon as I saw this image, I would be using it for Cara's  birthday. She loves red and angels so it was perfect.

The theme this week is to use non traditional Christmas colors. While red is a standard Christmas color,  pairing it with black isn't. I made the card with Cara in mind to include both red and an angel. She liked it.

I used the Deconstructing Jen sketch #181

With Sympathy - for Kathy

I made this card for a family friend from my home town. John Nevins passed away in November and they had his celebration of life on Saturday. It was beautiful and very touching. It was held at the Legion hall.

I made this card for Kathy. I used patriotic items instead of adding something for the Army. I wasn't sure what service he was part of and didn't have it confirmed until after I was already at the service.

Supplies :
Papers : Neenah, Recollections, The Paper Studio, SU Night of Navy, Imagine sense
Stamps: Studio G
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug ef, Sizzix dies, K &Co  stickers, pop dots.

GCC1215 - Happy Birthday Elf

It's Monday, so that means a new challenge has been posted over at the Outlawz. This week the theme this week is to use sheet music or some sort of music.

The Sponsor this week is Decosse's Dynamite Doodles and I used the neat music paper background from a set called Familiar Refrain. Lisa has a wonderful selection and also has a challenge this week over on her blog. It is an inspiration challenge so hop on over and enter. Since I chose a background image, I could use any other focal image I wanted. I used one of my new stamps I purchased when I was at a Copic Boot Camp.

I used a birthday sentiment because I have two December birthdays and I do not have a Christmasy (yes...I'm making up words again) sentiment small enough that is in a straight line. I'm not sure which person will get this. I intended to send it to my grandma for her 91st Dec 29th birthday, but it's 1/2 inch thick. I used pop dots on the main panel, the package, and thicker ones to pop up the elf. Hmmm. I may have to change my mind and send her another one and hand deliver this to my crafty friend instead of using my next week's image I chose with her in mind. I guess I'll have to see. Update: Sending this one to my grandma after all. I gave the GCC1222 Angel card to Cara. I turned it inside out so hopefully it won't be as thick that way and hopefully grandma turns it the right way when she opens it. I'm sure she will.

Challenges I submitted this card to:
Through the Craft Room Door - TTCRD Anything Goes - Dec 9-15

GCC1208 - Happy Birthday Jennifer

It's Monday, so that means a new challenge has been posted over at the Outlawz. This week was my week to determine the theme and post the challenge. I chose one of my favorites...designer paper and bling. I kept it simple at only 3 patterns for those that do not tend to mix patterns a whole bunch. And bling, that's a gimme.

The Sponsor this week is Lacy Sunshine and the image is Sugar "Sugi" Plum Sweet Urchin. Isn't she sooooo cute? I used this sketch from Pinterest. This particular sketch is pretty accommodating and can be used with a lot of different patterns. The main panel, the red circle with bling and the image are all on pop dots. I guess I better figure out a way to drop this one off instead of sending it when the time comes. I used clear bling behind the image.

I'm making this card now, but it will be sent to my friend Jennifer in January for her birthday. She is the friend that loves bling and loves animal print so when I saw the fur on the coat, I knew it had to be for Jen. Of course, the little Sugi is blonde and blue eyes. Just like Jen.

GCC1201 - Enjoy the Journey

It's Monday so that means there is a new challenge posted over at the Outlawz.

Happy 7th Birthday Maddie

I made this card for my friend's 7 year old for her birthday. It was a Frozen theme, with ice skating. I kind of figured since we were invited to go skating and the party was at the rink. I used a coloring book page for the image. I wanted both Elsa and Olaf in it so this one seemed to be the best. This card took me 3.5 hours to finish. I think part of it was searching for the image, printing it and then determining the papers to use but still. I told Jodi the mom, to be sure and save this one. I added glitter pen to the dress and the magic. I really like how Olaf came out.

I wish I had been able to see Maddie's face when she opened it. The first picture was taken with the flash so you could see the glitter paper and pen and the second was taken without.

Supplies:
Papers: Neenah, Hammermill Digital cardstock, The Paper Studio glitter paper, DCWV, American Crafts.
Stamps: Coloring page - Elsa and Olaf enjoying a warm and sunny day, SU Garden Greetings.
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, punch, Gem, Sizzix die, Stickles, popdots.

Happy 70th Birthday Barb

My friend Kim's mom Barb turned 70 last week but had her party Saturday. She loves martinis,  martini glasses,  anything martini so I had to buy this stamp last weekend from boot camp. I knew she'd love this.

I used some of the techniques I learned in Copic boot camp last weekend.

Barb said she thinks I'm an amazing artist. What a nice compliment.

I used Jen Dove's card for the layout and sample from the image package to create this. I don't have all the colors so I had to ad lib and create my own with layers of colors.

GCC1110 - Thanks.

A new challenge has been posted over on the Outlawz. Come on over and join in on the fun.

The Sponsor this week this week is: Beansie Doodles and the image is Diner Girl Darna.

The theme this week is "Veteran's Day - send a card to a Veteran". I was going to print the words "for your service or for serving" and adhere under the word thanks, but I ran out of time.

I personally feel we should always be thankful for the Veterans as their sacrifices and service is what keeps me free and able to do the things I do.

I spent last weekend at a Copic Boot Camp so tried some of the techniques I learned or refreshed my brain with. I used darker reds and blues to blend and give more contrast.

Supplies:
Papers: Neenah, xPress-It blending cardstock, Bazzill (red, white), American Crafts (black), Recollections.
Stamps: Beansie Doodles - Diner Girl Darna, Studio G.
Accessories: Cricut, Paper Lace cartridge, another cartridge (tag), Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, EK Success punch, homemade enamel dots, pop dots.
Inks: Copics, Memories.

GCC1103 - Happy Birthday Autumn

A new challenge has been posted over on the Outlawz. Come on over and join in on the fun.

We had two Sponsors this week. Sween N Sassy Stamps and Whoopsidaisy Digis. The Sponsor for my card this week is: Whoopsidaisy Digis and the image is Sheet 517.

The theme this week is "Fall Colors". Boy oh Boy was this theme hard for me. I get stuck in such a rut with using bright and cheery colors that I struggle when I have to use other color schemes. I decided to make this card for my good friend Autumn for her birthday. She not only has the name, she loves fall and the colors that go along with it, so what a perfect card/theme for her. Autumn has long brown hair, too, so it's perfect. It's in the mail today (yes, the card is going to be late, but I did wish her a Happy Birthday on her actual birthday so I'm good.) I used my Cricut for the leaf circle. I really like how it came out. The sketch this week is from Deconstructing Jen DS175

A new challenge has been posted over on the Outlawz. Come on over and join in on the fun.

The Sponsor this week is: Inky Impressions and the image is Jingles the Elf.

The theme this week is "Anything Goes" since it is the last Monday of the month.I will say, while it's still 88 degrees in Arizona, it's hard for me to get into the Christmas card making mood. The sentiment and the image are both from Inky Impressions. I used the towel technique and sponged it over the rabbit after I colored it to give it a look like fur.

I used this card as inspiration on Pinterest.

TCCCB1022 - Spooky

This is my last card for The Crafter's CafĂ©. I have really enjoyed my time on that board as a Design Team member. I've come to the realization that working 55+ hours a week for several months in a row and fulfilling my craft obligations wasn't working well. I had to make the sad decision to resign. I'll miss the great girls on the site and the projects.

This week, over at the Crafter's CafĂ© Challenge blog, the theme is "spookable". Come on over and join in on the fun.

The Sponsor this week is Delicious Doodles and the image I chose is Eye Scream. This was the perfect image for a spookable challenge. Don't you think? I added Glossy Accents to the eyes and teeth. GCC0825 - Live it up

There is a new Greetings challenge posted over at the Outlawz. Come on over and join in on the fun.

The theme this week is Anything Goes - it's the last Monday of the month after all.. I finally got on the make your own enamel dots by melting pony beads and melty beads. I like how they add some color and shine. I cut some in half (I need to come up with a better way to cut them in half. I had bead halves in the living room and I cut them in my kitchen. Not sure how that worked. The melty beads didn't melt down as well, but I think i'll still try and figure out how to use them. I baked the black ones longer and they melted down in a thinner patty instead of a dot. I added Glossy Accents on her glasses, the headlights and on the bumper.

The sponsor this week is: Stitchy Bear Stamps and the image is: Drivers Ed . Head on over and grab one of their cute images. This image made me laugh. I'm going to send this one off to my grandma. She's 90 and still drives, lives on her own, cooks, and volunteers. She's amazing. I normally send a card a month to her and my great aunt but lately, I haven't been good about sending the cards. Life has been too crazy.

Supplies:
Papers:
Neenah, xPress-It Blending cardstock, Bazzill.
Stamps: Stitchy Bear Stamps - Drivers Ed, Studio G.
Accessories: Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, Glossy Accents (lights, glasses, bumper), homemade Acrylic dots, Pink Stickles.

TCCCB0813 - Here's the Scoop...Life is sweet

This week, over at the Crafter's CafĂ© Challenge board, the theme is to create anything but a card. Come on over and join in on the fun.

The Sponsor is:The Paper Shelter and the image is Happy Times - ice cream.

This idea came about because I ran out of time to do what I had originally planned. : ( Life - ie work - has been more crazy than normal and I feel like all I'm doing is working. When I first saw this image and knew our theme was to create anything but a card, I wanted to make homemade hot fudge sauce. I wanted to hang a tag with this image on the neck of the jar. I still may do it, but it doesn't look like it will clear up any time in the near future so it will have to be over Labor Day weekend I guess. My dad loves my hot fudge sauce and homemade ice cream so I may wait until he comes back in the winter. Or make it now and then again when he's back. I normally only make both for 4th of July. It's become a tradition now. I found this wooden frame on sale for $.25 a long time ago. You just never know when you can use items like this and you need to snag them up when you see them. I changed out the ribbon and took off the Christmas Reindeer.

There are lots of die cuts on this one. I wanted to try the hot glue gun acrylic dots so I did. I made a few different sizes. I colored them with Sharpie markers and topped then with Glossy Accents. The ice cream cone is paper pieced. The red circle, I didn't pop out the circles around the edge. I wanted it to have more dimension so I left them intact.
