Happy Birthday Shannon

I made this card for a girl I work with named Shannon. She, my friend Jen, and me are known in the area as "the shoe girls". I guess that's a compliment, but honestly, I had no idea others really notice the shoes we wear. Funny thing about this girl, I had never met her. I have seen her various shoes and some I really like. Once I knew who she was, I happened to run into her in the cafeteria later that day and introduced myself. When I looked her profile up to show Jen, I noticed that it was her birthday today so wanted to make her a card. I used a sketch off Pinterest for this card. I really like this card and may use the sketch again soon. I did move the pennants up a little and attach them to the main piece instead of having them come off the pennant like they were in the sketch.

Supplies: Recollections, The Paper Studio, Neenah, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug embossing folder, SU garden greetings, bling, Studio G, Mark's Finest Papers, flower punch, paper piecing.

Happy Birthday Brett - Party like a Rockstar

I made this card for my friend Brett. He wouldn't really tell me when his birthday was so it will be late. I thought it was last week and I really missed it. Come to find out, it was Friday, this week so as long as I see him soon, it won't be too late. I sent him a picture so he knew I had it done. Brett said he and his mom both really liked it. I just love this card.

I used my Cricut and the Rock Princess cartridge. There are images on there that can be used for guys as well as girls like they show. I just love this card. I used a sketch from Pinterest for the design.

Supplies: Bazzill, Recollections, The Paper Studio, Neenah, Cricut, Rock Princess cartridge, SU garden greetings stamp, Studio G stamp, circle punches, pop dots.

Happy Birthday Ceylan

I made this card for my friend Ceylan for her birthday. She wanted me to make her card to duplicate a card I had previously made which is really hard for me to do. I already have this in the mail so it will be there within the next few days---and I'll be early!! Hope she doesn't see my blog before then. She loves elephants and purple and her mom loved yellow. I used a card off Pinterest for my inspiration.

The picture come out a little darker than what it really is for some reason.

Supplies: SU basic grey, Wilton doily, Recollections, bling, balloon punch, bakers twine, SU label punch, Sharpie marker, SU garden greetings stamp, Studio G clear stamp.

Thanks

I have an "important meeting" today so I made two of these cards to give afterwards. I used a sample off Pinterest for my inspiration. I did not want to go too girly so didn't add bling even though that would probably make really cute accents.

Supplies: Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Recollections, SU scallop border punch, Studio G, Memories ink.

Christmas in July

The craft group got together for Christmas in July last weekend and then will again this weekend. I make only one stlye of card and everyone gets the same for my Christmas cards so I only made some samples for people to use. I have most the supplies to make my cards and I have a funny twist for this year's pictures with the pooches but will most likely start them later in the year.

I used my Cricut and Trim a Tree cartridge and to cut out the ornament and then used the negative image to fill with ribbon. I used a card off Pinterest for my inspiration. The second card...I really like. it's so retro feeling to me. The foil is duct foil (not duct tape, however the foil is sticky so you can use it as stickers. Once you place it though, it's pretty much there so make sure you get it where you want it). You can buy at Lowes, Home Depot, or WalMart. I ran it through my Cuttlebug and then colored the dots with Sharpie markers. I used cards off Pinterest for my inspiration. One as the card and one for the layout.

Supplies: SU vanilla, SU tafeta ribbon, pearls, Cricut, Cricut Trim a Tree cartridge, SU gumball green, Recollections, foil tape, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug circle embossing folder, The Paper Studio embossing folder, Sharpie markers, ribbon, SU border punch, circle punch, Studio G.

Sorry

I have had to make too many pet sympathy cards in the recent weeks. : (  My cousin's wife Kendra adopted this cute little dog long before she met my cousin. Her little dog Bentley passed away last week of congestive heart failure. My family treats their animals like little humans so I know it was very hard on Kendra. She said that Bentley helped her pick her husband (my cousin Jeff) because when they first met, Bentley jumped right in Jeff's lap. Animals know...

I tried to add some light brown steaks through the Cricut die cut but didn't like the look so redid it. Of course...that was after I had the dog all glued on. I decided not to fiddle with the second one. I used a sketch off Pinterest and will link to it later. The sketch was in a square card and since I do not like to make square cards at all, I changed it to my standard A-2 card. The sketch had three buttons in the strip of paper so I used the paw print stamp. I wanted the paw print to be centered in the heart beause pets definitely leave paw prints on our hearts. I decided to add a red rhinestone and a paw brad. I cut the prongs off the brad since the card was already completed.

Supplies: Colorbok paper, Recollections, Bazzill, Bazzill bling cardstock SU chocolate chip cardstock, SU chocolate chip ink, SU clear embossing powder, SU stamp, Cricut, Cricut Every Day Pop-up cards cartridge, Studio G stamp (paw prints).

Feel better ok? for Peter

I made this to send to my friend Peter in Michigan. He is battling cancer and I thought this would help him at least know I'm thinking of him. I think he will enjoy it. And while I realize that cancer can't be cured from a hand made card, it will at least brighten his day for a moment.

Do you know how hard it is for someone picky like I am (when it comes to craft items) to add banners in a willy nilly way like I did here? It's HARD!!!!

I used a card from Pinterest as my idea and will add it later. I added my normal black and white polka dot paper (well, I used a smaller dot than I normally do) and I added the skull and crossbones because it's manly and anchored the bright colors in the banner line. I popped the sentiment to give it dimension.

Supplies: Making Memories, Recollections, DCWV, The Paper Studio, SU tempting turquoise, SU Chevron embossing folder, Cuttlebug, Studio G, Memories ink.

Happy 80th Birthday Alyce

Cara and Nathan (Cara's husband) asked if some of the girls in the craft group would make a card for Nathan's aunt who turns 80 years old today. Of course I said I would. My photos didn't turn out well, the card colors either looked too bright or dull for some reason. I used a scrapbook sketch for this card and will post the link to it later. I think Aunt Alyce will really enjoy getting cards from all of us.

Supplies: MME tres belle papers, Bazzill, SU coral, SU word stamp, SU blossom die, SU leaf die, SU butterfly embosslit, Cricut, Paper Lace cartridge (shape and 80), bling

Sympathy for Tink

FortinkUpdateSympathy cards are so hard to make regardless of who the sympathy is for. This one was sent to my mom for the loss of her kitty. My uncle brought this little tiny kitty to my mom to nurse back to health and bottle feed. He couldn't have been more than a day or two old. They didn't think he would make it. Mom became this kitty's momma kitty and bottle fed him and then raised him. He went out to to her deck and was laying funny when mom relized he wasn't moving. He was just over a year old. Very sad situation for my mom. I included a copy of the Forever Pet poem in the card. I feel so bad for her. She really became attached to this little ball of fur. He was ornery for sure but she loved him for it I think.

I used my Cricut and the Cricut Sampler cartridge for the cat and the Phrases cartridge for the shape. I couldn't make a tiger kitty but used the colors of Tink for my card. I saw a sample on Pinterest that I used.

Supplies: Bazzill, Recollections, Memories ink, heart punch, Cricut, Cricut Sampler cartridge, Phrases cartridge, SU bakers twine, bling (dot for I), corner rounder.

First black/white with splash of color day

I made a few samples for our group's craft day we had a few Saturday's ago - black and white with a splash of color. I used cards off Pinterest for my inspiration and will post the link to that card soon. I don't really have a lot of flowers that I like that could be used (Saturday, I will have access to other supplies from the other girls in the group so will most likely make a few more with different colors and flowers. This is a great layout to use scraps and various patterns. I used the new butterfly punches I bought at Ross. I'm trying to go outside my box and use other colors than pink. But...it's not going to be so easy because I love love love black, white, and pink together so I'm sure some will have that color scheme. I cut the label punch out of patterned paper and then layerd it on white and cut out and then again on aqua and cut a third time. I popped the happy birthday sentiment on pop dots for dimension as well as each layer of butterfly.

Just 'cause I like you - Sreeja

This card is for Sreeja, a coworker and friend at work. She is getting a promotion and it's well deserved. She always comments on my cards so I'm sure she will love it. I used the Colorbok Pool Party papers (which I just absolutely love love love the patterns). I purchased the stack at Walmart for $2.50. What a deal. I'm not as good of a deal finder as my mom, but I'm close! I will definitely be making more cards with these lovely papers. They really are happy to me. I have more butterflies cut out so I may be making two or three more of this exact card.  Way out of my norm...I rarely make blue cards because I struggle with them but these papers are helping that. I used a card from Pinterest for inspiration and will update the link later. I popped the whole card front on dimensionals. I've been doing that a lot lately.

Supplies: Colorbok paper, WR Memory Keepers baker's twine, memories ink, SU Just cause I like you stamp, SU label punch, Stickles.

Dr. Schroder - Congrats Jeff

Wow. My cousin Jeff graduated with his doctorate in Physical Therapy recently. His brother, Jim, is an Optomistrist. My other cousin is a Chiropractor...hmmm, maybe I need to go back to school. Well anyway, my cousins both did their internships in Arizona and stayed with me while doing so. My Aunt Cindy would be so proud of her boys. They are both amazingly smart (got that from both my aunt and my uncle) and really doing well for themselves. I tried to match the accent color to the color of Jeff's tassle but I'm not sure if it's a match or not. I used the Got Sketch sketch Dec 24.

Supplies: Bazzill, Archivers, The Paper Studio, DCWV, SU Year Round Fun II, bakers twine, SU clear embossing powder, Cricut Phrases cartridge and Cricut Martha Stewart Seasonal cartridge, SU circle punches, circle punch.

Happy Independence Day cards

I made these cards for the Fourth of July. I'm still unsure which cards will go to whom, but I got them done a little early. I submitted the ones that look like a flag to a challenge on the Outlawz challenges GCC0610 (I made two which normally would go to Grandma and my Great Aunt).. I used the clean and simple sketch #245 for the card that says 4th of July. I didn't use a sketch for the last card, and I know this one will go to my dad.

Congrats Stacy and Ryan

My cousin Stacy and her husband Ryan had their third and last baby on June 10, 2013. I made this card to send off. I found a card on Pinterest and used it almost exactly. I will post the link later. I'm generally not one to copy almost exactly for a card. The colors just seemed baby to me so I went with it. I mount most all my cards on a white base and use the 1/4 inch border. My buttons are a lot smaller then what was in the card I used as a sample so I mounted them on the blues for additional layerin and color. I sewed the buttons on with red thread.

There were a few funny things that transpired for this. 1. I didn't even know that my cousin was having the baby. All I knew was June. 2. I was thinking about the name Liam on Saturday while getting ready to go to the dance recital - I had no idea that was the name Stacy and Ryan were choosing and I'm not exactly sure why it popped in my head.

Liam Jay Carroll was born June 10, 2013, 10:35 am, 6 pounds 8 ounces, and was 19.25 inches long.

Supplies: SU Kraft, SU Night of Navy, SU Bliss Blue, Recollections, DCWV, unknown, Studio G and Craftsmart stamps, circle punches, Nestabilities, Cuttlebug, Cricut, Elegant Edges cartridge, SU bakers twine, SU Night of Navy ink, red thread, Corner rounder. I hand cut the pennant and the circle around boy.

Butterfly Crafting day

About once a month, a group of us get together for craft day. We generally agree on a theme (most the time, I am there in mid-morning and leave last because I only have to walk next door, but this time I was there first and left first. I had my friend Ceylan's dance recital I helped at.) We have a lot of fun, razzing everyone and eating the day away. Here are the cards I made for the butterfly themed day. I made some the day of and some the night before and day after. I used Pinterest cards as my inspiration and will post the links later. Most the time, I use the card as a layout, but I seemed to copy these pretty litterally which is so odd for me. The last card will be sent to my Grandma and Great Aunt for July. It's funny how color really makes a difference. I really like the card I used as a design for the third one I posted, however, I do not like mine.
