CAS0922 - Happy Birthday

This week, the CAS0922 challenge on Outlawz is to use sapphire in a monochromatic way. I was going to use a different paper and different, more bright blue ink however, none of my papers matched my ink so I had to go with navy. It took me longer to look for the piece of paper I knew I had than it did for me to make this card. I'll be sending it to my cousin for his birthday and also will be making another for his twin brother. : ) Blue is a hard color for me to use for some reason. I used my funny glasses and mustache stamp again. I guess this is the go-to stamp when I want someone to smile.

I used an FTL sketch #164.

Supplies: SU very vanilla, The Paper Studio, SU night of navy, SU night of navy ink, Studio G, googlie eyes, pop dots.

CAS0915 - Thank You

September is the first month of Spring in South Africa. I didn't know that, did you? Thank goodness for challenge boards and the internet. :) It helps you make friends all over the world through challenge sites and blogs. The Outlawz challenge this week is Clean and Simple (CAS091513) is to add a flower to your card. I had an idea in my head when I first read the challenge, but it didn't really take on that original thought. I will say, this card is definitely simple. It didn't take very long to make...and for me...that's a whole new thing to say. Just because I said that does not mean CAS cards are easy for my brain. They really push me out of my creative box each week. I wanted to not have a plain white front since the last few CAS cards I've made for the Outlawz challenges have had a white background, but this one just called for it somehow. Maybe that's my new "CAS style". HAHA. I added my signature black with white polka dot paper to this card. The last few, haven't had that.

Supplies: Neenah cardstock, SU daffodil cardstock, Recollections, Darice flower ef, corner rounder, flower punch, circle punch, Cuttlebug, Nestabilities, SU garden greetings, bakers twine, Bazzill bling.

CAS0908 - friends

This is my CAS (clean and simple) card for the Outlawz Challenge board. This weeks theme was to use marine life of some sort. I won't say these cards are getting any easier for me. This week, I'm pushing it a little on CAS but still a lot of white space. You can't see that the red is glitter paper from The Paper Studio. I did take a close up of the crab so you could see how it sparkles. I cut the crab out of the glitter paper. I was so frustrated, I wanted to emboss the Kraft "sand" with my SU lattice ef, however I cannot find it. I will be sending this to my friend at the end of the month as she is undergoing a procedure.

Supplies: Neenah, The Paper Studio, SU bashful blue, SU Kraft, Cuttlebug, Darice ef, SU scallop border punch, googlie eyes.

Jake the chip eater

My lab...I just know better not to leave the room when food is around. Last night, I had to go to the restroom and wasn't gone more than 2 minutes and heard Jake eating chips...well, when I went back out to the living room, he was pretty much just stuck in the chip bag. I guess he is saving me from the calories but still...those new garlic and sea salt Lays chips are yummy. My pets all want everyone to think they are starving. Hardly on that!! Here's your laugh for the day. Needless to say, when I took the bag off his head, he and Jackson got to eat the rest of the chips. Craziness.

Happy 99th Birthday Louie

I made this for a guy in my home town who turns 99 on September 9. I think it's his second golden birthday or maybe his third by now. Louie's family is requesting a card shower for him. I guess a few of the older gentlemen have a contest between them to see who gets more cards. I used a card off Pinterest as my inspiration.

Louie has an old antique car that he has restored and takes to the near by parades so I thought the antigue car would be a perfect touch. I'm not that familiar with cars, especially older ones but my Cricut Cut out is very similar to what his looks like.

In real life, this card does not look as dark.

Supplies: Neenah, Recollections, Bazzill, SU early expresso, SU pool party, Colorbok, DCWV, Cricut, Heritage cartridge, SU stamp, Cuttlebug, The Paper Studio ef.

Happy Birthday Mom and Aunt Madonna

I made these cards a long time ago at craft day for my Great Aunt and my mom. They have September birthdays, two days (and 20 years) apart. We call Aunt Madonna the Queen Bee because she is so particular and has to have things her way. My mom is a close second so we call her a Queen Bee in Training. She will wear the crown well, that's for sure. Mom's card has a little smaller crwon since she's only the Queen Bee in Training. Laurel had a sample card we used and it had a bee hive on it. I drew out a bee hive since none of us had one (not even on the cricut cartridges). Once I drew the bee hive and made a template, all the other girls used it as well. The bee hive was embossed and inked and the top layer was popped up with pop dots. There are a lot of pop dots on this card to add a lot of dimension.

Supplies: SU Sahara Sand, SU Daffodil, SU old olive, SU Bashfull blue, Bazzill bling, Bazzill, DCWV, Vellum, Versamark, Silver ep, Bashful blue, Chocolate Chip, Cuttlebug, The Paper Studio efs, border scissors, SU punches, Studio G Stamps, googlie eyes.

CAS0901 - Let it Snow

I made this for the Outlawz CAS Challenge this week - CAS090113. I'm pushing myself to try these since my good friend Cara is on the Design Team. This week, it was a sports theme. Can you believe, I have little to no sports-type stamps or cartridges that have sports theme on them? I came up with this one for this challenge. I double embossed the blue so it would look like snow dropping down. I added Stickles to the hat and ball. The red hat, mittens and scarf were paper pieced and the skiis, pole, beak and feet are colored in copics. The cloud was left over from my sunshine card last week. I popped the whole card front and the penguin up on pop dots for dimension.

Update: This card was just featured on Outlawz Challenge boards. : )

Supplies: SU bliss blue, Recollections, TAC, Studio G, Copic, Stickles, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug ef, The Paper Studio small dots, wood ef (scarf), SU ef.

CAS0825 - Sunshine and Happiness

I made this card for the Outlawz Challenge board, Clean and Simple challenge, CAS082513. CAS cards are not easy for me. In fact...I struggle each and every time. I like lots of layers and patterns I guess. This challenge was to make a card that will lift someone's spirits, add an uplifting sentiment, and to show sunshine. This card would not photograph well at all. It's much more vibrant in real life and in real life, you can see the embossed circles in the clouds. I will try to photograph it again and then repost. My friend Cara is on the Outlawz CAS Design Team so I wanted to push myself and try to enter some challenges even though they are so hard for me.

Supplies: DCWV, Neenah, Studio G, Cricut, Phrases cartridge, Cuttlebug, Cuttlebug large circle embossing folder, The Paper Studio small circle embossing folder, SU going grey ink, SU sun yellow ink, bling, sequins, CAS082513.

Rainbow

I made this card during our crafty day on Saturday. I didn't get many cards made, which shouldn't surprise me after all this time. I tend to talk a lot and create things that take a while for me to complete. Like the rainbow on this card. Each strip and clouds were stamped on different paper and cut out and paper pieced back together.  I need a sympathy card so I may add a sympathy banner on the rainbow. If I do, I will add that picture here after. I used a card off Pinterest for my inspiration.

Supplies: Neenah, SU brilliant blue, Bazzill, Recollections, The Paper Studio, Stamp Club, Big Kick, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Memories ink, paper piecing.

Get Well Peter

This card was made Saturday during our crafty day. I made this for my friend in Michigan who has surgery on Thursday. I figured this would make him laugh. Who can't smile when they see this? I included two of my Christmas 2011 pictures so it would cheer him up...or scare him, either way, I figured he may like them. This card just makes me laugh. The image makes me smile when I see it. I used a template off Pinterest to create my chevrons. The chevrons give the card added dimension when done this way. I added a get well soon sentiment on the inside.

Supplies: Bazzill, The Paper Studio, Neenah, Studio G, Memories ink, googlie eyes, SU label punch.

Birthday wishes 2

I made this card during our craft day on Saturday. I saw a card on Pinterest I used as inspiration. I mixed some stamps to add the candles and paper pieced them and the cupcake bottom.

Supplies: Bazzill, The Paper Studio, SU markers, Memories ink, Stickiles, Big Kick, Cuttlebug embossing folder, SU label punch, pop dots on main image, Inkadinkadoo, paper piecing.

Birthday wishes 1

The crafty girls group got together again this weekend to work on cards. Good friends and good food! The theme was scraps. That's my favorite theme since I tend to mix a lot of patterns and papers. I used a card off Pinterest for my inspiration. I do not have any one in mind to send this card to so will keep it on hand for when I need a birthday card.

Supplies: Recollections, The Paper Studio, Making Memories, Bazzill, SU daffodill, SU tempting turquoise, DCWV, Neenah, Big Kick, Sizzix dies, SU dazzling diamonds, bling, SU garden greetings, Inkadinkadoo, paper piecing.

Congrats Shane and Lexie

My cousin just was married in California on August 17. I met his wife in October at Jeff and Kendra's wedding. I normally make a scrapbook wall hanging and frame it but since they didn't really have wedding colors, I decided to make a different kind of wall hanging. I used my Cricut and instead of using vinyl like in the one I saw on Pinterest, I used paper on glass and placed it behind glass.

I asked my uncle if he would cut out the frame for me since my Roto Zip some how disappeared. My uncle Dennis told me he would cut the back out of the frame for me so it would hold the glass in and still keep the clear look I was going for.

Shane and Lexie really seemed to like it.

The card I made, I kind of used a card I saw on a blog however, I changed it quite a bit. This isn't my favorite card.

Supplies: Bazzill, Recollections, Cricut, Elegant edges cartridge, Phrases cartridge, Martha Stewart Seasonal cartridge, SU border punch, Sure cuts a lot, ribbon, frame, extra piece of glass, SU stamp.

Happy 90th Birthday Sylvia

My mom asked me to make and send a card to Sylvia, a neighbor who lives out by my mom. I made this card in an SU camp. I normally do not post those cards, however, this one has a little twist in the center. My mom and Sylvia will be happy I sent her a card. Due to the papers inside, I signed the back and wrote a little note.

Supplies: SU papers, SU stamps, SU pansy punch, SU little leaves, SU label punch

You did awesome Cara

I made this card for my good friend Cara when I found out she made a permanent spot on the CAS Design Team for Outlawz Challenges. I was so proud of her. Cara doesn't really like pink so I used a lot of colors but pink. Cara also posted this card on her blog. I used a card off Pinterest as my inspiration.
